INTRODUCTION
“It is not a disaster to be unable to capture your ideal,
but it is a disaster to have no ideal to capture.
It is not a disgrace not to reach the stars,
but it is a disgrace to have no stars to reach for.
Not failure, but low aim is sin.”
(Benjamin Elijah Mays -Walking Integrity mentor to Generations )

The project is inspired by the black square, we made an installation “ Epiphany ”.

The meaning of Black Square changes due to context and the black square
represents the freedom of interpretation and endless possibilities.

The topic: Life goals and dreams because the concept is very abstract and it is relevant to each one.
In real life, reaching the goal is not only about how much effort we make but also depends on different conditions.

Metaphor:

An interactive and concrete way to measure the distance from our dream.
The sticker represents our goal and the stairs symbolize the journey to reach our goal.
So when people go upstairs and put their sticker, it is like they are in the road to follow their dream.

 Segmentation

Three stickers represent three different feeling about their goal life.
Red: Frustration Yellow: Excitement Blue: Indifference

How:
We recorded students’ name and
let the audience choose the stickers
and then place them in different height of the stairs.

Where: Stairs at LCC
The floor is start point and the highest level is our goal So if we place the sticker near the floor,
it means that we have long way to reach our goal.
However if we place it close to the top of the stair, that means that we are closer to our dream.

How people reacted:
“From now on, every time I go up the stairs I’ll be like thats my dream”
“I’m not in the right state of mind to answer this right now.”

How we made this our own:
“I think we’ve all thought of being a pilot or a doctor or an astronaut when we were younger, and look where we are.
Dreams are constantly changing and transforming.”
“This is something that is relatable to most of the people and while doing this task it gave all three of us a moment as well to sit back and think “How far away are we from our goals?”
